Let's Do This!

JH1-31_edited.jpg

Welcome to the senior lounge!  I am so excited that you have chosen me to be your senior photographer!  I can’t thank you enough for your business!  This is such a huge time in your life and choosing to document it in such a way will be such a treasure!  We are going to have an absolute blast at your senior portrait session!  I can’t wait!

When I had my senior pictures done, I went with the studio contracted by my high school.  I didn’t have a lot of choice over how it went and that definitely showed in my pictures.  They looked like the rest of my friends’ pictures and weren’t very special.  I hope to give you an experience of a lifetime with your senior pictures!

I hope to give you an amazing experience with your senior pictures.  I’m all about telling stories.  Rather than having you just stand in a random field, I want to make the places we shoot, and the way we shoot intentional.  When you look back in 10-20-30 years, I want you to be transported back to your senior year.  I want you to remember what it was like to be YOU at this exact time in your life.

WELCOME TO THE BOYS SENIOR LOUNGE!  This page is filled with tips + tricks + ideas to help us plan your custom session.  Below you will find links to all of my session planning guides as well as information to help you make your senior portrait session the best it can be.  As always, if you have questions along the way, give me a shout!  I am happy to help in any way I can.

YOUR SENIOR SESSION

Clothing is a huge part of expressing our personality and individuality.  It’s also a huge factor in determining the style direction of your session. Yes, even for the guys!  Believe it or not – locations, our style of shooting, and the final portrait art all branch from your clothing selections, too.

Use the following resources to plan your portrait-perfect outfits.

Photoshop can do a lot, but it can’t fix everything!

Need some inspiration?

This is the place to look.  Below you will find a link to the Guys Pinterest Style Board.  I’ve added over 100 men’s style pins to inspire you with a variety of looks for your session outfits.

Don’t have a Pinterest account?  Ask your mom, girlfriend…etc to use their account.  Create a new board with your own ideas.  Start pinning the things that reflect your style and interests.  Pin anything from fashion styles to location types you like.  The more you pin the better!  Be sure to share your board with me:  @bryzf1

Tips & Tricks

A FEW TIPS WHEN SELECTING CLOTHING

When selecting outfits, I always suggest a variety of looks.  Try to include both casual and dressy styles as well as styles for multiple sessions.  Even if your session takes place in the summer, it’s always great to have an outfit with a layered fall look too!

MAKE SURE IT FITS

There’s no better way to ruin your session than ill-fitting clothing.  Make sure your outfits fit your body well.  Slouchy shoulders in shirts or pants folding over because they’re too big are never a good look.  Yikes!

HAVE SOME OPTIONS

I suggest having four complete outfits for your session.  We won’t use all of them, but it’s nice to have a selection to choose from.

Complete outfit = pressed outfit + shoes + accessories like a watch or hat…etc

Session Day

Check List

Your clothes ironed and on hangers to allow us to easily see each outfit together for efficiency. Hang them up in your car, or lay them flat in the back.

Any other colored belts you need other than the one you’re wearing

Shoes and accessories to go with each outfit — This includes socks if you need to change them out.

Your sports/activity/special interest equipment (all of it – including your ball, helmet, gear, etc.)

A comb or brush + product to touch up your hair if needed

Chapstick (dry lips don’t photograph well)

Your sunglasses for those fun summery shots

Your smile and great attitude!  (that’s the most important)

ready, set, go!

A FEW FINAL DETAILS BEFORE YOUR SESSION

Be sure to arrive on time for your session so that we can get through all of the session details we have.  Arriving late will reduce the allotted shoot time we have planned.
